Esk valley running club Dave Parry summer series mugs
Occasionally I make things in the studio that are larger commissioned orders for prize giving or groups. This set of 40 mugs are the Esk Valley Running club’s summer awards series mugs that are due to be handed out this October. The mugs themselves feature imprinted text on the surface which has been done by hand in a kind of waving line which adds a dynamic look to these straight sided mugs.
Due to the amount of text on each one the design is a simple geometric form and a little set of footprints at the end just to give a little nod to fell running as a sport. Each one of these will be glazed in the ice blue colour from the chart. This blue is a recycled glaze made up of ‘run off’ from all the other glazes we use in the studio, somehow the cobalt in it becomes the most dominant colour but it has a softness to it from the neutral glazes.
Ice blue is a great choice for these since it takes the text well and fills it in to appear darker, it’s also a really fresh looking colour. The bottom of these are hand stamped with the Little Wren Pottery logo.
These custom mugs make a great alternative from the typical ‘corporate gift’ white mugs with a transfer on which are more common. They can be customised in more ways and have more character than their more mass-produced counterparts; they are truly unique reflection of your club or group. If you’d like to place an order for something similar just get in touch!
