Commemorative ornaments

This year I created something special for the Esk Valley Running Club as part of their summer series awards; a set of handmade commemorative ornaments. These ornaments were a great opportunity to create something unique, a nature inspired motif with personalisation for the club’s 2024 collection.

To bring a touch of the outdoors to each piece they have a nature inspired element - the pine one and frond motif. A rustic feel that seems fitting for a club with ties to the landscape. Each ornament is a clay disk with the pinecone carefully pressed into the surface. I added lettering to each one as requested. These were glazed simply with a little green and brown for the pinecone, with them being mostly unglazed this allowed the natural texture of the clay to shine through.

Each of these ornaments celebrate the contribution of volunteers who help to keep the club running and the community they’ve built together.
